Tis The Season...To Get Sick

I live in the northeast and the weather here has been on a real roller-coaster for the past two weeks. We've gone through days where it has been 37 degrees then 60 degrees, then 70 degrees and back down to the low 30's.

During the course of those two weeks I went from wearing hat and gloves to no coat at all, and it finally caught up to me on Monday when I started to feel some scratchiness in my throat. For me the telltale sign that I am getting sick always starts with my throat; whether it's a cold or a sore throat, when I start to feel that scratchiness, I know something is coming.

Sure enough by Tuesday, it was starting to hurt to swallow and my throat was sore. My sweetie picked up some Halls & vitamin C lozenges and I've been sucking on them nonstop and hope to get some relief soon. I hate getting sick and fortunately for me I don't get sick very often, but when I do it hits me hard.

Now when I worked in the corporate world if I was sick I could take a sick day, stay home and rest, my work would get done by someone else, and I would still get paid. Now that I am a business owner and a solopreneur, if I get sick and don't work it affects my income and my work will pile up because I have no one else to do it for me. However there is a silver lining...

Because I work virtually I don't have to get up and go to an office where I have to sit all day and be miserable. I can sleep in a bit and start a little later, take tea breaks as needed for as long as I like, and still get all my work done. I also don't have to worry about getting anyone else sick and hearing them complain.

Tis the season for getting sick but because I work virtually it will be a lot easier to deal with!
